# Rate limits

Current limits (subject to change as we scale):

| Bucket                 | Limit                           |
| ---------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| Read endpoints (GET)   | 120 requests / minute / API key |
| Write endpoints (POST) | 60 requests / minute / API key  |
| `/agents/:id/send`     | 30 requests / minute / API key  |

When you exceed a limit:

HTTP/1.1 429 Too Many Requests
Retry-After: 12
{ "error": "Rate limited" }
```

`Retry-After` is in seconds.

## Headers on every response

| Header                  | Meaning                               |
| ----------------------- | ------------------------------------- |
| `x-ratelimit-limit`     | Bucket capacity                       |
| `x-ratelimit-remaining` | Calls remaining in the current window |
| `x-ratelimit-reset`     | Unix timestamp when the window resets |

## Best practices

* Cache `agents.list` and `agents.get` results in your app — they rarely change.
* For high-volume sending, use the concurrency-limited pattern in [Sending USDC](/black-sheep-finance-docs/guides/sending-usdc.md).
