# Slack format

When an endpoint's **Format** is set to `Slack`, Black Sheep renders the payload as a [Block Kit](https://api.slack.com/block-kit) message instead of raw JSON.

## What ships

* Title — event type + agent label.
* Section — amount, recipient (truncated), memo.
* Actions — `Approve` / `Reject` buttons (when the Black Sheep Slack app is installed) or a link to the dashboard.
* Footer — event ID + timestamp.

## Setup

1. In Slack: *Apps → Incoming Webhooks → Add to Slack → pick channel → copy URL.*
2. In Black Sheep: **Dashboard → Webhooks → Add endpoint**, paste URL, format = `Slack`.
3. (Optional) Install the **Black Sheep Slack app** from the Webhooks page for inline buttons. Without it, buttons link out to the dashboard.

## Signature

Slack-formatted webhooks are signed the same way as JSON ones — but Slack's incoming-webhook URL doesn't check signatures itself. The HMAC is for **your** workflows if you're proxying.

## Which events to send

| Event               | Channel suggestion              |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| `approval.pending`  | `#payments-approvals` (on-call) |
| `approval.approved` | (skip — noisy)                  |
| `tx.blocked`        | `#security`                     |
| `tx.sent`           | `#payments-feed` (low-priority) |

## Limitations

* Slack webhooks have a 1 message/sec soft rate limit per URL.
* You cannot template the message — use `JSON` format and your own renderer if you need full control.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://black-sheep-finance.gitbook.io/black-sheep-finance-docs/webhooks/slack.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
